How Do I Choose the Best Pediatrician for My Child?

There is a lot to consider when choosing a pediatrician. It is important to find a pediatrician that you and your child can both trust. This might sound a bit overwhelming, but we’re here to help you get started.

Here are just a few questions to ask and factors to consider when choosing a pediatrician:

Will they accept my payment?

The first step is to make sure that your child’s pediatrician will accept your insurance or preferred form of payment. AGC Pediatrics is the only children’s center in North Georgia that accepts PeachCare and Medicaid for behavioral medicine, such as ADHD consultation and treatment.

Are they qualified?

Many people choose pediatricians for their children based on word of mouth from people they know they can trust. If this is the case, it is still important to double check that your pediatrician has the credentials to back up their reputation. The staff at AGC Pediatrics is licensed, certified, and highly qualified.

Do they share similar views?

You will also want to make sure that your pediatrician is not only qualified but also shares similar opinions when it comes to pediatric healthcare. AGC Pediatrics is a Christian organization that seeks to incorporate our faith in daily practice.

What is their policy on same day sick visits?

Don’t forget to find out what will happen if your child is sick and needs to see the doctor that day. Will it cost extra? Will you be placed on a wait list?  AGC Pediatrics offers same day sick visits, to get your child back on his or her feet as soon as possible.

Is the environment comfortable? Does your child feel that they are safe? Is the medical and office staff welcoming and friendly?  Finding an environment where your child can feel at ease will make trips to the doctor’s office much more pleasant for both of you. AGC Pediatrics aims to make you feel at home in any of our offices.

At what age can your child no longer see their pediatrician?

Every pediatrician has a different age cutoff, so you’ll want to be aware of their policies before making a selection. AGC Pediatrics treats our patients from birth until they are young adults (age 21), but all practices are different.

Have you met them in person?

It is very important to meet your possible pediatrician face to face. You want to know that they are dedicated to providing the best child care possible. You will want to feel you can trust this person and their entire staff for years to come.
